Sources of MIP Problems
Frequent MIP Opening Issues
PaintShop Pro is Not Installed
You attempt to load your MIP file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The MIP File Extension". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because PaintShop Pro isn't installed on your PC. Your operating system cannot associate your MIP with PaintShop Pro, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another MIP-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
PaintShop Pro is Out-of-Date
Sometimes your installed version of PaintShop Pro won't support your Multiple Image Print File file. Installing the latest version of PaintShop Pro from Corel is recommended. This issue mainly occurs when your Multiple Image Print File file was created by a newer version of PaintShop Pro than you have on your PC.
Tip: Right-clicking on your MIP, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening MIP files are due to having the wrong version of PaintShop Pro installed.
Other MIP File Opening Causes
Assuming you have the right PaintShop Pro version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening MIP files. If you are still having problems opening MIP files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. Other contributing causes:
- Invalid MIP file references in the Windows Registry (the "phonebook" of the Windows Operating System)
- Deletion of the MIP file description from the Registry by mistake
- Invalid installation of a MIP-associated program (eg. PaintShop Pro)
- Your MIP file is corrupted (issues with your Multiple Image Print File file itself)
- Malware-tainted MIP file can't be opened
- Hardware associated with MIP has outdated drivers
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Multiple Image Print File file successfully
