Sources of STU Problems
Frequent STU Opening Issues
Pinnacle Studio Disappeared
You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open STU Files" when trying to open your STU. If so, it typically means that you don't have Pinnacle Studio installed for %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your STU file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens STU files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Pinnacle Studio is Out-of-Date
Your Pinnacle Studio Project file is incompatible with Pinnacle Studio because you might have the wrong version installed. Download the latest Pinnacle Studio version from the Corel website to ensure you have the correct one installed. This issue mainly occurs when your Pinnacle Studio Project file was created by a newer version of Pinnacle Studio than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of STU file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening STU files are due to having the wrong version of Pinnacle Studio installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening STUs
Although you might already have Pinnacle Studio or another STU-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Pinnacle Studio Project files. - STU file corruption
- STU file integrity has been compromised by malware
