Autodesk Fusion 360 Disappeared

Double-clicking your IAM file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open IAM File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Autodesk Fusion 360 for %%os%% installed on your computer. The OS won't know what to do with your IAM file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens IAM files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Autodesk Fusion 360 Requires Update

Sometimes your installed version of Autodesk Fusion 360 won't support your Inventor Assembly File file. You will need to download a newer version of Autodesk Fusion 360 if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a Inventor Assembly File file version that was created by a newer version of Autodesk Fusion 360 than what you have installed on your PC.

Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of IAM file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).

You can still experience errors opening IAM files even with the latest version of Autodesk Fusion 360 installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening IAM files. Issues that aren't software-related:

• File references in the Windows Registry for IAM are wrong
• Deletion of the IAM file description from the Registry by mistake
