Sources of VWX Problems
Issues Opening VWX Files
Missing VectorWorks
When trying to open your VWX file, you get the error "Can't Open VWX File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because VectorWorks isn't installed on your PC. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens VWX files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Incorrect VectorWorks Version
In other instances, your Vectorworks Design File file version may not be supported by your version of VectorWorks. You will need to download a newer version of VectorWorks if you don't have the right version. This issue mainly occurs when your Vectorworks Design File file was created by a newer version of VectorWorks than you have on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of VWX file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Primarily, problems experienced when opening VWX files are due to having the incorrect version of VectorWorks installed on your computer.
Other VWX File Opening Causes
You can still experience errors opening VWX files even with the latest version of VectorWorks installed on your PC. If you're still experiencing problems opening VWX files, there could be other computer problems. These issues include:
