Sources of ZPF Problems
Typical ZPF Opening Challenges
AutoDesSys formZ Removed
If you attempt to load your ZPF file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open ZPF Files". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because AutoDesSys formZ isn't installed on your PC. You won't be able to double-click to open your ZPF because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you don't have AutoDesSys formZ installed, and you know of another program to open your ZPF file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Obsolete Version of AutoDesSys formZ
Your Form•Z Preferences File file is incompatible with AutoDesSys formZ because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version AutoDesSys formZ (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your Form•Z Preferences File file was created by a newer AutoDesSys formZ than what you have installed.
Tip: Investigate your ZPF file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the ZPF file opening problems relate to not having the right version of AutoDesSys formZ installed.
Other Causes of ZPF File Opening Problems
Assuming you have the right AutoDesSys formZ version installed, other problems can prevent you from opening ZPF files. If you are still having problems opening ZPF files, there may be other issues that are preventing you from opening these files. These other problems include (listed in order from most to least common):
- ZPF file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- The ZPF file description within the Windows Registry was removed
