Common Problems Opening RIG Files

Iterum vRigger Isn't There

When you double-click your RIG file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Iterum vRigger isn't installed on your PC. The OS won't know what to do with your RIG file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your RIG, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Iterum vRigger is Out-of-Date

In other instances, your vRigger Design File file version may not be supported by your version of Iterum vRigger. If you do not have the proper version Iterum vRigger (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Your vRigger Design File file was probably created by a newer release of Iterum vRigger than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the RIG file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.

Primarily, problems experienced when opening RIG files are due to having the incorrect version of Iterum vRigger installed on your computer.

Associated Difficulties Loading RIG Files

Even with the correct version of Iterum vRigger installed, you can still experience difficulties opening RIGs. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening RIGs. Other contributing causes:

• File references in the Windows Registry for RIG are wrong
• Deletion of the RIG file description from the Registry by mistake
• Partial installation of Iterum vRigger that did not fully complete
• Your RIG file is corrupted (issues with your vRigger Design File file itself)
• Past or present virus infection has affected your RIG
• Hardware related to RIGs has device driver corruption
• Your PC doesn’t have enough available resources to open the vRigger Design File file
