DICOM File Complications
Frequent DICOM Opening Issues
GIMP Not Present
If you attempt to load your DICOM file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open DICOM Files". When this happens, it is commonly due to GIMP missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your DICOM, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Incorrect GIMP Version
Your DICOM Image File file is incompatible with GIMP because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version GIMP (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Your DICOM Image File file was probably created by a newer release of GIMP than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your DICOM, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Primarily, problems experienced when opening DICOM files are due to having the incorrect version of GIMP installed on your computer.
