Sources of GIH Problems
Common Problems Opening GIH Files
GIMP Removed
If you attempt to load your GIH file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open GIH Files". Customarily, this means that GIMP is not installed on %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your GIH file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens GIH files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of GIMP is Installed
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a GIMP Image Hose File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Visit the The GIMP Development Team website to download (or purchase) the latest version of GIMP. Most of the time your GIMP Image Hose File file was created by a newer GIMP than what you have installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the GIH file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: Not having the right GIMP version on your computer can cause problems opening GIH files.
Other GIH File Opening Causes

- File references in the Windows Registry for GIH are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the GIH file inside the Windows Registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the GIH format
- File corruption affecting your GIH file
