Troubleshoot DA5 Files
Troubles Opening DA5 Files
AGiliTy Not Present
When trying to open your DA5 file, you get the error "Can't Open DA5 File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have AGiliTy installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the DA5 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When another DA5 application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
AGiliTy is Out-of-Date
In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a AGT Game Data File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. You will need to download a newer version of AGiliTy if you don't have the right version. Your AGT Game Data File file was probably created by a newer release of AGiliTy than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your DA5 file and clicking "Properties".
Summary: Not having the right AGiliTy version on your computer can cause problems opening DA5 files.
Other DA5 File Issues
You can still experience errors opening DA5 files even with the latest version of AGiliTy installed on your PC. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening DA5 files. Other contributing causes:
- File references in the Windows Registry for DA5 are wrong
- Unintentional removal of the description of the DA5 file inside the Windows Registry
- Defective install of a DA5 program, such as AGiliTy
- Your DA5 can't be loaded properly (file corruption)
- DA5 file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Device drivers for DA5-related hardware are out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your AGT Game Data File file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
