Troubleshoot H5 Files

Issues Opening H5 Files

GDAL Disappeared

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open H5 Files" when trying to open your H5. If so, it typically means that you don't have GDAL installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the H5 file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: If you have another software that you know opens H5 files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.

Obsolete Version of GDAL

Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of GDAL installed that's incompatible with your Hierarchical Data Format 5 File type. Installing the latest version of GDAL from Open Source is recommended. The primary cause of this problem is that your Hierarchical Data Format 5 File file was created by a different (newer) version of GDAL than what's installed.
