Troubleshooting Problems Opening ELN Files
Troubles Opening ELN Files
Unknown Software Removed
When you double-click your ELN file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". Generally, this is experienced in %%os%% because Unknown Software isn't installed on your PC. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the ELN file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your ELN, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Wrong Version of Unknown Software is Installed
In other instances, your Blackboard Collaborate Note Document file version may not be supported by your version of Unknown Software. Installing the latest version of Unknown Software from Unknown Developer is recommended. This problem is predominately due to having a Blackboard Collaborate Note Document file version that was created by a newer version of Unknown Software than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of ELN file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Summary: Not having the right Unknown Software version on your computer can cause problems opening ELN files.
