Troubleshooting Problems Opening IHR Files
Troubles Opening IHR Files
Unknown Software Isn't There
Double-clicking your IHR file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open IHR File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have Unknown Software for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your IHR with Unknown Software, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your IHR file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Unknown Software Requires Update
Sometimes your installed version of Unknown Software won't support your Unknown File Type file. You will need to download a newer version of Unknown Software if you don't have the right version. This problem is predominately due to having a Unknown File Type file version that was created by a newer version of Unknown Software than what you have installed on your PC.
Tip: If you right-click on your IHR file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the IHR file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unknown Software installed.
Additional IHR Opening Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Unknown Software will resolve your issue. If you are continuing to have errors with loading IHR files, other external issues might be to blame. Additional factors include:
- Windows Registry IHR file paths that are incorrect
- Corruption of the IHR file description inside the Registry
- Defective install of a IHR program, such as Unknown Software
- Your IHR file is corrupted (issues with your Unknown File Type file itself)
- IHR file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware related to IHRs has device driver corruption
- Your computer does not have the adequate system resources to open the Unknown File Type format
