Troubleshoot REQW Files
Common REQW Opening Problems
Unknown Software Not Present
You attempt to load your REQW file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The REQW File Extension". Customarily, this means that Unknown Software is not installed on %%os%%. Your operating system cannot associate your REQW with Unknown Software, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: If you don't have Unknown Software installed, and you know of another program to open your REQW file, you can try opening it by selecting from the programs listed under "Show Apps".
Wrong Version of Unknown Software is Installed
Your Unknown File Type file is incompatible with Unknown Software because you might have the wrong version installed. If you've got the wrong version of Unknown Software installed, you'll need to install the correct version. The primary cause of this problem is that your Unknown File Type file was created by a different (newer) version of Unknown Software than what's installed.
Tip: Right-clicking on your REQW, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Regardless, most of the REQW file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Unknown Software installed.
Other REQW File Opening Causes
Although you might already have Unknown Software or another REQW-associated software installed on your computer, you can still encounter problems opening Unknown File Type files. There can be external issues inside of %%os%% that are causing these errors when opening REQWs. Additional factors include:
- REQW file type Registry entries are wrong
- Deletion of the REQW file description from the Registry by mistake
- Defective install of a REQW program, such as Unknown Software
- The REQW itself is corrupted
- Malware-tainted REQW file can't be opened
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your REQW file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Windows cannot load your Unknown File Type file due to insufficient resources (eg. RAM)
