Troubleshooting Problems Opening WPR Files
Frequent WPR Opening Issues
Logic Pro X Not Present
You attempt to load your WPR file and get an error such as "%%os%% Can't Open The WPR File Extension". When this happens, it is commonly due to Logic Pro X missing in %%os%%. Because your operating system doesn't know what to do with this file, you won't be able to open it by double-clicking.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your WPR, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Wrong Version of Logic Pro X is Installed
In other instances, your Apple Logic Studio WaveBurner Plug-in Preset File file version may not be supported by your version of Logic Pro X. Download the latest Logic Pro X version from the Apple website to ensure you have the correct one installed. The primary cause of this problem is that your Apple Logic Studio WaveBurner Plug-in Preset File file was created by a different (newer) version of Logic Pro X than what's installed.
Tip: Sometimes you can get a clue about the version of WPR file you have by right clicking on the file, then clicking on "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac OSX).
Conclusion: The majority of WPR file opening issues are due to not having the correct Logic Pro X version installed.
Associated Difficulties Loading WPR Files
You can still experience errors opening WPR files even with the latest version of Logic Pro X installed on your PC. If you are continuing to have errors with loading WPR files, other external issues might be to blame. Problems unrelated to software:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for WPR
- Mistaken removal of the Windows registry WPR description
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the WPR format
- The WPR itself is corrupted
- Your WPR is infected with malware
- Device drivers for WPR-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Apple Logic Studio WaveBurner Plug-in Preset File file successfully
