Understanding VWS Issues
Issues Opening VWS Files
SmartWare is Not Installed
Double-clicking your VWS file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open VWS File". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have SmartWare for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your VWS with SmartWare, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: Another VWS-related program can be selected to open the file by clicking "Show Apps" and finding the application.
Outdated SmartWare
It is possible that your version of SmartWare isn't able to open your SmartWare Standard View file due to incompatibility. You will need to download a newer version of SmartWare if you don't have the right version. Your SmartWare Standard View file was probably created by a newer release of SmartWare than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the VWS file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Conclusion: The majority of VWS file opening issues are due to not having the correct SmartWare version installed.
