Understanding ODD Issues
Frequent ODD Opening Issues
Missing Coby Voice Manager Software
When trying to open your ODD file, you get the error "Can't Open ODD File Type". If so, it typically means that you don't have Coby Voice Manager Software installed for %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the ODD file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your ODD file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Incorrect Coby Voice Manager Software Version
In other instances, your Coby Voice Recorder Data file version may not be supported by your version of Coby Voice Manager Software. Download the latest Coby Voice Manager Software version from the Coby Electronics Corporation website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your Coby Voice Recorder Data file was probably created by a newer release of Coby Voice Manager Software than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: If you right-click on your ODD file, then select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can obtain hints about what version you need.
Regardless, most of the ODD file opening problems relate to not having the right version of Coby Voice Manager Software installed.
More Causes of Problems Opening ODDs
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of Coby Voice Manager Software will resolve your issue. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening ODD files. Problems unrelated to software:
- Windows Registry ODD file paths that are incorrect
- The ODD file description within the Windows Registry was removed
