Sources of RNC Problems
Common RNC Opening Problems
RNC ProPack Not Present
When trying to open your RNC file, you get the error "Can't Open RNC File Type". Customarily, this means that RNC ProPack is not installed on %%os%%. You won't be able to double-click to open your RNC because your OS doesn't know what to do with it.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your RNC file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Wrong Version of RNC ProPack is Installed
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of RNC ProPack installed that's incompatible with your RNC ProPack Archive File type. If you've got the wrong version of RNC ProPack installed, you'll need to install the correct version. Your RNC ProPack Archive File file was probably created by a newer release of RNC ProPack than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Investigate your RNC file by right-clicking and selecting "Properties" to find clues on what version you need.
Regardless, most of the RNC file opening problems relate to not having the right version of RNC ProPack installed.
Other Causes of RNC File Opening Problems
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of RNC ProPack will resolve your issue. Other RNC opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. These issues include:
- RNC file references in the Windows Registry are broken
- The RNC file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the RNC format
- File corruption affecting your RNC file
- Past or present virus infection has affected your RNC
- Device drivers of the hardware associated with your RNC file are corrupt or out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your RNC ProPack Archive File file successfully
