Sources of XMCD Problems
Troubles Opening XMCD Files
Missing PTC Mathcad Prime
If you attempt to load your XMCD file, you experience a message such as "Can't Open XMCD Files". Customarily, this means that PTC Mathcad Prime is not installed on %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the XMCD file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.
Tip: If you have another software that you know opens XMCD files, you can select it by hitting the "Show Apps" button.
Wrong Version of PTC Mathcad Prime is Installed
Occasionally, you might have an outdated version of PTC Mathcad Prime installed that's incompatible with your Mathcad Worksheet File type. Visit the PTC website to download (or purchase) the latest version of PTC Mathcad Prime. The primary cause of this problem is that your Mathcad Worksheet File file was created by a different (newer) version of PTC Mathcad Prime than what's installed.
Tip: You can sometimes get hints about the right program version by right-clicking on the XMCD file, selecting "Properties", and looking at the version information.
Summary: In either case, the majority of problems opening XMCD files are related to not having the correct software application installed on your computer.
