Troubleshoot SHT Files
Common Problems Opening SHT Files
LibreOffice Isn't There
When you double-click your SHT file, you may see a dialog box from your operating system stating that it "Cannot Open This File Type". If this is the case, it's usually due to the fact that you do not have LibreOffice for %%os%% installed on your computer. Your operating system cannot associate your SHT with LibreOffice, so double-clicking the file won't work.
Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your SHT, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").
Incorrect LibreOffice Version
It is possible that your version of LibreOffice isn't able to open your HTML File With Server Side Includes file due to incompatibility. If you do not have the proper version LibreOffice (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. Most of the time your HTML File With Server Side Includes file was created by a newer LibreOffice than what you have installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your SHT file and clicking "Properties".
Regardless, most of the SHT file opening problems relate to not having the right version of LibreOffice installed.
Additional SHT Opening Issues
In the majority of cases, installing the right version of LibreOffice will resolve your issue. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening SHT files. Other contributing causes:
- File references in the Windows Registry for SHT are wrong
- Accidental deletion of the description of the SHT file in the Windows registry
- Incomplete or bad installation of a software application associated with the SHT format
- SHT file corruption
- SHT file integrity has been compromised by malware
- Hardware related to SHTs has device driver corruption
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your HTML File With Server Side Includes file
