Sources of XCSCHEME Problems
Issues Opening XCSCHEME Files
Apple Xcode Not Present
When trying to open your XCSCHEME file, you get the error "Can't Open XCSCHEME File Type". When this happens, it is commonly due to Apple Xcode missing in %%os%%. The OS won't know what to do with your XCSCHEME file, so double-clicking to load the file doesn't work.
Tip: When another XCSCHEME application is installed, you can choose to open it by selecting "Show Apps" and using that program.
Outdated Apple Xcode
Your Xcode Scheme File file is incompatible with Apple Xcode because you might have the wrong version installed. You will need to download a newer version of Apple Xcode if you don't have the right version. Your Xcode Scheme File file was probably created by a newer release of Apple Xcode than what's currently installed your computer.
Tip: Right-clicking on your XCSCHEME, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
Ultimately, most of the difficulties opening XCSCHEME files are due to having the wrong version of Apple Xcode installed.
Additional XCSCHEME Opening Issues
Errors opening Xcode Scheme File files can still occur even with the latest Apple Xcode software installed on your computer. There can be other issues - unrelated to software - preventing you from opening XCSCHEME files. Additional factors include:
- Corrupt Windows Registry file path references for XCSCHEME
- Corruption of the XCSCHEME file description inside the Registry
- Invalid installation of a XCSCHEME-associated program (eg. Apple Xcode)
- Something has caused file corruption of your XCSCHEME
- Malware-tainted XCSCHEME file can't be opened
- Device drivers for XCSCHEME-related hardware are out-of-date
- Too many applications are open on your PC to load your Xcode Scheme File file successfully
