Troubleshoot AB6 Files
Frequent AB6 Opening Issues
ABstat Disappeared
Double-clicking your AB6 file prompts the message "%%os%% Can't Open AB6 File". When this happens, it is commonly due to ABstat missing in %%os%%. The typical path of opening your AB6 with a double-click won't work because %%os%% cannot make the program connection.
Tip: If you know of another program that can open your AB6 file, you can try opening it by selecting the application from the programs listed.
Outdated ABstat
Your ABStat Data file is incompatible with ABstat because you might have the wrong version installed. If you do not have the proper version ABstat (or any of the other programs listed above), you may need to try downloading a different version of it, or one of the other software applications listed above. The primary cause of this problem is that your ABStat Data file was created by a different (newer) version of ABstat than what's installed.
Tip: Find clues on the correct software version by right-clicking your AB6 file and clicking "Properties".
Conclusion: The majority of AB6 file opening issues are due to not having the correct ABstat version installed.
Other AB6 File Issues
You can still experience errors opening AB6 files even with the latest version of ABstat installed on your PC. Other AB6 opening errors can be created by other system problems inside of %%os%%. Problems unrelated to software:
- Windows Registry AB6 file paths that are incorrect
- The AB6 file description within the Windows Registry was removed
- Defective install of a AB6 program, such as ABstat
- The AB6 itself is corrupted
- Your AB6 is infected with malware
- Hardware associated with AB6 has outdated drivers
- Windows has inadequate resources to open your ABStat Data file
